Introduced in 1991, Ferrari’s new 512 TR remained highly similar to the outgoing Testarossa in terms of styling, but boasted a number of significant changes under its Pininfarina-designed bodywork. These included a one-piece rear subframe, allowing its engine to sit one inch lower than it did in the Testarosssa, as well as improved suspension geometry. Power was raised to 428 bhp thanks to a new Bosch engine management system, larger intake valves and a revised exhaust, allowing it to better compete with Lamborghini’s new Diablo.
This specific 512 TR was originally delivered new to Switzerland in February of 1993 and finished just as you see it today, in Nero over a matching Nero leather interior. The car remained in Switzerland for the majority of its life and was exported to the U.A.E. with a previous owner by at least 2014. The car remains there today after being purchased by the consignor there in 2016.
Since his acquisition, the car has been maintained by AR Motors in Dubai and has been recently serviced and fitted with four new tyres. The car’s last major service and timing belt replacement was carried out by AR Motors in May 2016 at 45,343 km, with subsequent annual services carried out in December 2019 and March 2021, which included the fitment of four new tyres. Importantly, the car retains its original engine and is accompanied by its original manuals, service book, and service invoices from 2014 onwards.
Boasting the quintessential style of a Testarossa with performance approaching that of the F40, all for a fraction of that car’s price, it is easy to see why 512 TRs are beloved by enthusiasts. This attractive and well-kept example would surely be a thrill to drive and enjoy.
