The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG was first unveiled at the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show with European sales commencing in mid-2010; U.S. sales began the following year. As the spiritual successor to the legendary 300 SL, this was the first car developed exclusively by Mercedes-Benz’s in-house tuner AMG. Initially released as a coupe with distinctive “gullwing” doors, the roadster version was unveiled at Frankfurt in 2011 with production continuing through 2014. Assembled largely by hand, Magna Steyr in Graz, Austria, produced the aluminum chassis and body, while the engine was put together at AMG headquarters in Affalterbach, Germany, with final assembly in Mercedes’ Sindelfingen facility. When introduced, AMG claimed that its 6.2-liter 563-brake horsepower twin-cam V-8 was the world’s most powerful naturally aspirated series-production engine.
This stunning 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Roadster is finished in Obsidian Black Metallic with a black convertible roof over a Graphite Exclusive Leather interior. The car rides on 10-spoke AMG wheels wrapped in Continental tires. Optional equipment includes an AMG performance steering wheel and a Burmester sound system. Other notable features include aluminum AMG trim, red painted AMG brake calipers, an automatic rear spoiler, dual-zone climate control, Comand system with navigation, backup camera with parking sensors, AMG ride-control performance suspension, bi-xenon headlights, blind-spot monitoring, AirScarf climate control system and more.
Originally delivered to Ontario, Canada, the car was part of a major collection and stored in a climate-controlled garage. Remarkably, just 359 miles showed on the odometer at time of cataloguing and the roadster shows in incredible condition. An invoice on file dated March 2025 confirms that Mercedes-Benz Brampton of Ontario performed a comprehensive inspection, changed the oil and oil filter, and installed a new rear main seal to fix a leak.
Well-specified and offering a level of performance and luxury that rivals even the latest supercars, this low-mileage SLS AMG is sure to be a most welcome acquisition for marque enthusiasts or anyone seeking a supercar as rewarding to drive on-circuit as it is every day and over long distances.
