Sergio Scaglietti’s eponymous coachbuilding concern sculpted the Ferrari 250 GT California Spyder and Testa Rossa race car—in addition to building the 250 GTO, 250 LM, 275 GTB, and 365 GTB/4 Daytona—to list but a handful of its beautiful, landmark creations. It was, therefore, entirely appropriate for Ferrari to launch a model named in his honour. Replacing the 456 as the 2+2 coupé in the range, the 612 Scaglietti was introduced in 2004.
The Pininfarina-penned bodywork was rather fittingly constructed at Carrozzeria Scaglietti’s former Modena premises, which had since been taken over by Ferrari. The tuneful V-12, meanwhile, returned 532 horsepower from 5,748-cc displacement. The resulting top speed of 199 mph was the 612’s trump card in the fight for grand-touring supremacy alongside the Aston Martin DB9, Bentley Continental GT, and Mercedes-Benz CL 65 AMG.
Finished in Bianco Avus, the 612 Scaglietti offered here boasts a gorgeous Cuoio leather interior and wears a set of 19-inch polished five-spoke split wheels. The car was also specified with Ferrari’s six-speed F1A paddle-shift transmission, which was placed at the rear of the spaceframe chassis to optimise driving dynamics. Other notable features on this example include the Scuderia shields set into the front wings, the Giallo Modena-painted brake callipers, yellow tachometer, Alcantara-trimmed boot, front and rear parking sensors, plus the upgraded Bose infotainment and navigation system. Built in 2007, this 612 wears a special plaque mounted to the left of the steering wheel that recognises Ferrari’s 60th anniversary. Please note, this is not one of the 60 Sessanta editions produced specifically to mark the occasion.
Understood to have been bought new by an emir in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, the car was next acquired by the Swiss consignor.
Blending effortless performance with a dose of practicality, this Ferrari 612 Scaglietti awaits only its third custodian.
