Oldsmobile sat out the station wagon market from 1951 to 1956. When it did re-enter the segment, Olds did so with flair. Co-opting the name from the 1953 prestige convertible, the new ’57 wagons were all designated “Fiesta” and came in one of two forms: a pillared four-door and a pillar-less hardtop four-door. The pillar-less wagon was called “Holiday Fiesta,” consistent with Olds’ use of “Holiday” on hardtop coupes and sedans.

This Holiday Fiesta wagon is equipped with a most unusual but rather sporting specification. Powered by the J-2 version of Olds’ 371-cubic inch V-8, it is fed by three two-barrel carburetors, developing 312 brake horsepower. The car has a three-speed manual transmission, limited slip differential, factory air conditioning, power steering and power front seat. It has the novel Transportable AM radio, which can be used in the car or removed as a portable set for outdoor settings.

Purchased by Mr. Kizziar in 1987, it was given a body-off restoration in 1990. Despite the passage of time, it presents well in red with red-and-white interior. There is minor wear to the seat, but otherwise the interior is very good. The stainless trim is all in good condition, and the engine compartment is clean. The odometer reads about 5,240 miles. Equipped with windshield visor, fender skirts, whitewall tires and small “dog dish” hub caps, we are told it is an “incredible driver, smooth and fast.”

Fresh from restoration, it was judged at 932 points out of 1,000 by the Oldsmobile Club of America in 1990 and achieved First Place with 98 points at a meet of the Oklahoma Oldsmobile Association in 1991. An exceptional automobile, this is a very unique choice for the enthusiast in search of a powerful station wagon.
