The 997 GT3 RS was released in Europe in October 2006 and in North America in spring 2007. The GT3 RS is 20 kg (44 lb) lighter than the standard 997 GT3, weighing in at a svelte 1,370 kg (3,020 lb). Production of the first-generation 997.1 GT3 RS ended in 2009. An estimated 1,168 examples were delivered worldwide, with a total of 410 sold in the United States and 42 in Canada.
