When production resumed after the war for the 1946 model year, Chevrolet's first woodie was the Chevrolet Fleetmaster Series DK, built on a 116-inch wheelbase. The 1946 and 1948 models were virtually identical. The wagon's body was 207.5 inches long and it had a curbside weight of 3,435 pounds. Under the hood was a 90-hp 216-cid, in-line six-cylinder engine. Complementing the wood paneling was a nice blend of steel components that were available in a variety of exterior colors that helped accentuate the woods beauty. Ash provided the structural base, while mahogany was used for the panels. Leatherette was stretched over a wood frame to provide the roof. Approximately 10,171 were built between February 1948 and January 1949. The 1948 Chevrolet Fleetmaster Station Wagon was the last true woodie (structured wood) from Chevrolet and the only 1948 model Chevrolet that had a list price over $2,000.00 (base list price $2,103.00).

This amazing woodie was purchased originally from an authorized dealer in Philipsburg, Pennsylvania. In 1953, the car was purchased by Harold Zulick of Houtzdale, PA, who would keep it for the next 55 years. In the 1990s, Harold decided to do a no-expense spared restoration. Upon completion it won a Grand National at its first AACA event. This Chevrolet is very rare and in "like new" condition and has been exercised regularly since and drives a good as it looks.
