  • No-expense-spared restoration; An American style icon

245 bhp, 312 cu. in. OHV V-8 engine with a single four-barrel carburetor, two-speed Ford-O-Matic transmission, independent wishbone front suspension, live rear axle, and four-wheel hydraulic brakes. Wheelbase: 102 in.

Nineteen fifty-seven brought about a series of changes to the Thunderbird, with the purpose of giving the car a slightly more aggressive look, which included adding a restyled front grille, a rear deck and trunk, and a new bumper. These changes were coupled with a Volumatic radio system, an innovative new radio that automatically increased the radio volume as the car’s speed increased, and the Dial-O-Matic seat, which provided a memory setting for the driver’s seat to keep the car’s athleticism matching its level of luxury. Fourteen-inch wheels that were coupled with larger front brakes were also fitted.

This example is a “D-Code” Thunderbird that is powered by a 245-horsepower version of Ford’s 312-cubic inch V-8, which is mated to a two-speed Ford-O-Matic transmission. This Thunderbird is further equipped with power steering and brakes, for ease of driving, as well as an iconic porthole hardtop and convertible soft-top. In 1990, it was fully restored, at no expense spared, by Hibernia Auto Restorations, of Hibernia, New Jersey, and a binder of receipts from this restoration is included with the sale of the car. It has been sparingly used since restoration and has been properly maintained amongst Mr. Pack’s flock of iconic Thunderbirds.
