Introduced in October 1950, Morgan’s Plus Four was produced through 1968. The handsome, sophisticated and upscale Drophead Coupe variant was immediately recognizable by its tall, front-opening doors, fixed windshield stanchions and elegant three-position folding top. It also featured walnut interior appointments, removable sliding side windows and body accent trim.

These models were powered by a Standard-Triumph dual-carbureted OHV engine mated to a Moss four-speed gearbox and, by 1960, offered a rated 100 bhp in the USA. In particular, Morgan’s unique sliding-pillar front suspension design gives the car its unique, lively handling and sporting character.

The Plus Four DHC effectively broadened Morgan’s appeal and competed against the offerings of such highly respected competitors as Alvis, Jaguar and Riley. As such, the Plus Four DHC supplied its fortunate owners with elegant and comfortable cruising at 80-plus mph and peerless road manners.

This 1960 Morgan Plus Four Drophead Coupe is one of just 433 Plus Four Drophead Coupes produced between January 1954 and September 1969. It was acquired by the vendor in 2005 and has remained in climate-controlled storage ever since. Quite rare and unusual, Drophead Coupes like this example from 1960 continue to offer characteristically British driving dynamics and upscale presence, all at a reasonable price point.
