Horse-drawn wagons were the backbone of American agriculture throughout the first half of the 20th century, and the International Columbus was an intermediate model wagon with ornate striping. One period advertisement for the Columbus and comparable Weber model declares, “No fault is ever found with the materials, the seasoning, the ironing, or the workmanship of a Weber or Columbus wagon. No wagons in the world have a better record for durability and easy running.”
This International Columbus is beautifully finished in green, with complementing black and gold striping, fine white pinstriping on the body, and red undercarriage wheels. It was donated to the AACA Museum in 2003, at which the time it was equipped with modern wheels. A complete restoration of the wagon was undertaken, and it was brought to period-correct appearance, with correct-style wheels, which are seen on it today.
Please note that this lot is sold on a Bill of Sale.
