Model 626. 90 hp, 319.2 cu. in. L-head inline eight-cylinder engine, three-speed manual transmission, and four-wheel mechanical brakes. Wheelbase: 126.5 in.

The 1929 models were Packard’s Sixth Series, and straight eights became standard across all model lines for that year. The standard Eights, like this Convertible Coupe, strode on a 126.5-inch wheelbase, and its power was supplied by an all-new 90-horsepower, 319.2-cubic inch, inline eight-cylinder engine. Five disc wheels wearing 32x6 tires were standard, but the dual side-mounted spares, which included the extra spare wheel, were an additional $130. They were part of the Deluxe Equipment package, as seen on this example, which also includes the chrome plating on the cowl band and cowl lamps, as well as the accessory trunk rack. A chrome mesh grille stone guard and driving lights are also found on this Packard.

According to the consignor, this car has been maintained since its comprehensive restoration to an impressively high standard, and it is capable of operating comfortably at speed, pulling strongly through all the gears. It is equipped with built-in hydraulic double-acting shocks and grille shutters. This handsome Coupe, which has been painted an imposing period-correct black and features matching disc wheels, a black convertible top, a tobacco interior, and red accent striping, can strike quite the pose going down the road.

This Standard Eight is recognized by the Classic Car Club of America and wears badge number 1579, which indicates that it was a National First Prize winner in the Primary Division at the 1991 Florida Grand Classic. The odometer reads just 74 miles, which indicate that the car has received minimal use and wear over the years, and it also explains the incredible condition of this older restoration car. It has been in climate-controlled storage while in the possession of its current owner.
