20 bhp, 176.7 cu. in. four-cylinder inline L-head engine, two-speed planetary transmission, solid front axle and live rear axle with transverse semi-elliptic leaf springs, and a transmission brake and two-wheel mechanical drum brakes. Wheelbase: 100 in.

Before Ford introduced the Model T in October 1908, the company displayed little interest in manufacturing vehicles for commercial use. Passenger vehicles were more profitable, and the market for commercial vehicles was still evolving. However, after the Model T was introduced, it was clear that Ford had created a platform that could handle light delivery work well with its 176.7-cubic inch engine, which was mated to a two-speed planetary transmission. A commercial version of the Model T would surely be successful, as the Model T chassis was already very well regarded by both Ford and its customers alike.

The delivery car was a unique model for 1912, as it wore a versatile body that was big enough to be used for a variety of applications. Priced at $700, it was fully equipped with an “automatic” brass windshield, a speedometer, six-inch gas headlamps, a gas generator, an oil slide lamp and tail lamps, a horn, and tools. Sadly, the delivery car would disappear from the Model T lineup in 1913, and it would not return until 1921.

This specific Model T has been on display at the AACA Museum since 2009, and it has always attracted lots of attention from visitors to the museum. It is currently finished in dark blue with “Fruit and Produce” painted in script on the both sides of the body. The paint is offset with white non-skid tires that are mounted on wooden wheels, which are painted to match the body. The black leather interior and interior wood trim are in excellent condition and present just as well as the exterior. This wonderful car has been the recipient of a restoration to very high standards, and it has been well preserved by the museum’s caretakers, albeit it was not run while on display. As a result, this automobile will likely need minor recommissioning to be put into functioning use.

The Model T Pie Wagon offered today would be an exciting addition to any collection. Vehicles such as this are admired by everyone, and it almost goes without saying that this vehicle will attract attention wherever it goes. With a one-year production total of 1,825 built, this is a rare example within one of the most popular motor cars in all of automotive history. It is also a unique opportunity to purchase an interesting variation of Ford’s iconic Model T and to give back to a worthy cause.
