The 1979 Versailles is powered by a 302-cid, 130-hp V-8 engine with a three-speed automatic transmission and is finished in the two-tone combination of Light Champagne over Dark Cordovan. The car is fitted with the vinyl half-roof and the additional leather interior is presented in complementary tan. The car is also equipped with optional reclining bucket seats and center console with armrest, wire wheel covers, along with the numerous luxury appointments that one expects from Lincoln. It boasts a straight body and 60,000 original miles.

The Versailles was the first mid-size platform offered by Lincoln and was only available as a four-door sedan. Other firsts associated with this model include the initial use of clearcoat finish and Halogen headlights by an American manufacturer.
