Arguably one of the most dramatic motor-racing posters of the post-war period, this rare piece of automotive history is the only known example in large format. Created by Geo Ham, a working pseudonym for Georges Hamel, the poster depicts the 12 Hour International Race in 1954. The sense of drama is heightened by Geo Ham’s depiction of the scene at night, as the powerful headlamps of the Mercedes-Benz, Jaguar, and Ferrari lance into the track’s darkness while a blaze of light from the grandstands hurtles towards the viewer. This exciting poster has a minor restored tear but is otherwise in excellent condition. It is conservation linen-mounted, framed to edge, and glazed under UV-resistant Perspex.
