The 330 GTC was introduced at the Geneva Motor Show in 1966, just two years after the 330 GT 2+2 and with this new model, Ferrari sought to produce a car that embodied the best of both worlds between the plush 330 GT 2+2 and the more aggressive 275 GTB. The 330 GTC used the same steering, suspension, and transmission as the 275 GTB, and these features, coupled with a wheelbase that was 10 inches shorter than the 330 GT 2+2, made the GTC much more dynamic to drive. Sporting two seats with lots of room for luggage both on the parcel shelf and in the trunk, the 330 GTC was a wonderful grand touring car in all regards.
Equipped with Ferrari’s 4.0-liter Colombo V-12 engine, it produced 300 horsepower and could achieve a top speed of 150-mph following a 0-60 mph run of under seven seconds. At the end of the 330 series’ production run, total numbers for the GTC stood at 598.
Built by the factory in November of 1967 and finished in Rosso over Beige Scuro, this particular 330 GTC was shipped new to M. Gastone Crepaldi S.a.s., the official Ferrari dealer located in Milan, Italy according to Ferrari historian Marcel Massini. It was sold new through them to a Mr. Arban of Milan later that year.
Sometime thereafter, the 330 GTC was exported to California, the state it has called home ever since. Noted as being owned by Donald Holsworth of San Francisco in 1975, the car was subsequently owned by Arthur Rude Jr., also of San Francisco, from 1977 to 1982. Purchased by its current custodian in 2003 from a California owner who was reported to have owned the car for over twenty-five years, it remains in excellent driver quality condition to this day.
This Ferrari has been regularly maintained by its current owner over the course of the last twelve years. The car is accompanied by a healthy file of documentation including service receipts and invoices dating to 1976, copies of old California registration cards documenting continuous California registration back to 1974, photographs of a bare-metal respray to its current shade of red, a complete tool roll, as well as an original 330 GTC operating handbook, and a copy of a 330 GTC/GTS assembly data and repair instruction book. Furthermore, this 330 GTC is also fitted with non-factory air conditioning and has recently been fitted with a new ANSA exhaust.
This 330 GTC is believed to have never been fully restored or taken apart, and exhibits a very nice level of patina and character requisite for such a well maintained automobile. It would surely continue to be a wonderful driver for any occasion and begs to venture out onto the open road.
