In 1936 Packard introduced their Fourteenth Series. The model lineup included the One-Twenty, Eight, Super Eight and Twelve. With sales of the entry level One-Twenty nearly doubling for 1936, Packard’s risky decision to offer an affordable model was paying off. It allowed the company to stay afloat during the Great Depression and continue to produce the luxurious cars the company was known for, just in smaller quantities.
This Packard Super Eight 2/4 Passenger Coupe is one of only 1,330 luxurious Super Eights produced in 1936. Offered in a two-tone burgundy and cream, the car shows beautifully. The Packard rides on wide whitewall tires mounted on wire wheels with factory hubcaps. Exterior features on the car include a rumble seat, covered dual sidemounted spares with sideview mirrors, golf club doors on either side, as well as a trunk rack with trunk which houses picnic place settings.
Powering this Packard is a 384-cid, 150-hp inline eight-cylinder engine which is paired to a three-speed synchromesh manual transmission. Four-wheel vacuum assisted mechanical brakes provide the car’s stopping power. The interior is features leather seating and a wood dashboard.
As a CCCA Full Classic, this stunning 1936 Packard 2/4 Passenger Coupe is an ideal candidate for tours and show participation.
