This is an iconic BMW coupe. In period Road & Track magazine called the 3.0 "without a doubt, the most sophisticated inline-six in the world."
In factory nomenclature, “E9,” the BMW 3.0 CS Coupe, was a Karmann-built two-door based on the New Class 2000CS. Enlarged to accommodate the M30 engine from the E3 sedan, it had appeared first in 2.8-liter guise. In all, 7,935 were built from 1971 to 1975; with 2,741 in 1973. A 3.0 CSL special homologation version for the European Touring Car Championship competition enhanced BMW’s reputation as a manufacturer of sporting automobiles.
This particular car is powered by the carbureted 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine and mated to an automatic transmission. The silver paint is nicely complemented by a red leather interior. This exciting sport coupe has rare factory air conditioning; BBS-style web alloy wheels and a second set of factory alloys also accompany the BMW.
