Taking its name from the legendary 1950s-60s Ferrari Testa Rossa (Italian for “Red Head”) racecar; this automotive icon of the 1980s, the Pininfarina-penned Ferrari Testarossa, improved on the basic platform of the preceding Berlinetta Boxer. The mid-engine Testarossa gained additional popular appeal after being showcased in the hit TV show Miami Vice. However, the Testarossa is so much more than just a looker; it offers imposing performance with an increased degree of usability due to additional luggage space and an improved clutch. Thanks to more power, the 4.9-liter, flat-12 coupe registered a top speed of 180-mph. Its flat-12 design was derived from the Boxer, featuring two banks of six horizontally opposed cylinders and 48 valves and dry-sump oil system. Bosch's latest K-Jetronic fuel-injection improved power and drivability; with 390 horsepower available, the Testarossa was capable of sprinting to 60 mph in 5.4 seconds. The Ferrari has a five-speed manual gearbox in a rear-mounted transaxle, four-wheel independent suspension with unequal-length A-arms, coil springs and anti-roll bars and four-wheel hydraulic disc brakes.

The 1989 model has air conditioning, full instrumentation, leather interior, stereo, power windows and door locks as standard equipment. The Testarossa on offer registers less than 20,000 miles on the odometer; it also has its toolkit and manual. Just over 7,000 Testarossas were built between 1984 and 1991 before the line evolved into the 512 TR.
