The competitive nature of the Sports Car Club of America’s Trans-Am series provided the stage for the introduction of the legendary Mustang Boss 302. Renowned car owner and builder Bud Moore returned to the Trans-Am factory battle in 1969 with Ford, where his drivers pushed Chevrolet's seemingly unbeatable combo of Penske-Donohue to the wire in one of the most competitive Trans-Am seasons on record. However, it would be the 1970 season before Parnelli Jones and George Follmer would lead the team to six victories and enough accumulated points to clinch the Manufacturer’s Championship for Ford Motor Co.

Discovered in deteriorating condition in the early 1990s; the automobile offered here is a factory air-conditioned car that was destined for an upper-echelon Ford executive, which makes it unique to Boss 302 production. The concours quality renewal of this Wimbledon White SportsRoof with black striping and interior won the Best of Show award the first time displayed, beating 120 other Mustangs at SAAC-20 in Atlanta, Georgia.

The car was sold to Ford Motor Co. in Dearborn and shipped to the Ford Central Office Building Garage. The car is fitted with some very rare and unusual options that include the rectangular electric clock, console and convenience check group with standard vinyl interior, tachometer, trip odometer, SportSlats, rear spoiler, AM/FM stereo radio, tilt steering wheel, intermittent wipers, tinted glass and front bumper guards fitted with the front spoiler. Other sought after items on this impressive option list are the Shaker hood scoop, Traction-Lok differential, power steering, Rim-Blow steering wheel, deluxe belts with warning light, heavy-duty battery and chrome Magnum 500 wheels.
