In 1949 and 1950 Chevy offered a Sport Coupe as a Styleline Special and Styleline Deluxe. This 1950 Chevrolet has a distinct body design, different from the Chevy two-door sedan, similar to the 1950 Chevy Business Coupe. The Styleline Deluxe Sport Coupe had a shorter cabin area and a longer rear deck. Many of these cars were used by traveling salesmen that needed a back seat for carrying children once home. The 1950 Chevy Deluxe Sport Coupe has stainless trim along the front fenders, Deluxe script on the front fenders and stainless gravel guards on the leading surface of the rear fenders. Other exterior trim found only on the Deluxe models were stainless windshield and rear window reveal moldings. The moldings outlined the windshield and rear window glass and followed the top curve of the doors and quarter windows on sedans and coupes. In addition, all deluxe models were equipped with fender skirts and some, such as the car on offer, even came with white wall tires.

Mechanically 1950 was a big year for Chevrolet with the introduction of the first automatic transmission priced for the masses. Offered as a $159.00 option for the Deluxe series only, the two-speed Powerglide operated in a single speed only, unless the driver selected low-range manually. Chevrolet coupled the Powerglide to the new 235.5-cid, 105-hp, hydraulic lifter, six-cylinder engine. These models were considered six passenger cars and were placed in the mid-range pricing group.
