Sales fell somewhat in the face of increasingly higher-performance and more popular muscle cars from other marques when compared to those from the more stodgy and expensive Buick. However, Buick stepped it up a notch when introducing the Stage 1 option in 1969.
It is said that there were only 131 Stage 1 Skylarks built as a convertible with an automatic transmission in 1969. This example is a documented Stage 1 convertible; however, it has been upgraded with a later 455-cid, V-8 engine. Finished in red, this Buick Skylark has all the amenities one could want from a Classic; including power steering, brakes, top and air conditioning.
