Porsche introduced a new version of their 911 in 1989; it was referred to internally as the 964 series. Porsche claimed the new 911 was 87-percent new compared to the outgoing models with elements that dated back to 1963. A unique limited-edition 911 was produced during the 964 series run, called the America Roadster. It featured a wide body or “turbo look,” minus the spoiler. The cars had no rear seating; instead the space was utilized for storage. The final year of 964 series 911 production was in 1993.
