For 1965, Chevy added the big-block “Mark IV” engine to the Corvette options list, a 396 cubic inch version rated at 425-hp. For 1966, the big-block became a 427-cid unit, offered in two stages of tune: 390- or 425-hp. With the 427 came the new “power bulge” hood. Big-block cars had stiffer suspension, a heavy-duty clutch and a better cooling system. Acceleration was phenomenal: zero-to-sixty in less than five seconds.

In 1967, Chevrolet offered three different production 427 engine options. This car has RPO L71, a solid-lifter Tri-power version with three two-barrel Rochester carbs. It was rated at 435-hp, although it is widely believed to have made a good deal more. The 1967 Corvette was a car that the owner would find to be individual, personal, luxurious, energetic and tenacious. Individual in the exclusive character of the car; personal in the many extras that were offered by the factory to better fit your tastes; luxuriousness in the then state-of-the-art interior fittings and appointments; energetic by having a wide array of powerplants available and tenacious in its ability to combine power, handling and braking to have one of the toughest machines around that takes a back seat to few others.

In Rally Red over red with black convertible top and black stinger, it is in excellent condition throughout and is restored to NCRS standards. It is equipped with power steering, power four-wheel disc brakes, windshield washer, clock, AM/FM radio, side exhausts and bolt-on factory alloy wheels with Coker Classic redline tires. Fit and finish are exceptional and the red leather interior is brilliant, although the seats show some use. Engine detail is excellent, and the undercarriage is spotless.

Big-block Corvettes are very much in demand; this is arguably one of the best currently available.
