The Packard Motor Car Company introduced its eight series on August 14, 1930. Manifolds and valves from the 1930s speedster engine had been adopted across the board, resulting in a horsepower boost to 120 on the 384.8-cid “Senior” Deluxe models. The deepening Depression took its toll. While more than 6,000 Deluxe Eights had been produced in the 1930 model year, only 2,016 were built for 1931, with nearly three-quarters of them being built before the end of the 1930 calendar year.

Shown here is a beautiful representation of the quality and craftsmanship Packard put into their automobiles. From the long sweeping fenders and running boards, to the tall whitewall tires, down to the intricate instrumentation of the countersunk gauges. The green body with matching disc-type rims and black fenders is a nice offset to the normally single tone vehicles. The broad front end and large radiator shows the nobility of the owner who claims the Deluxe Eight. Other amenities include: luggage rack, wooden dashboard, black leather interior, driver side rearview mirror, dual spare tires, large chrome front and rear bumpers and windwings.

Just to the rear of the passenger door there is an exterior access door, this was generally used for golf club storage due to its convenient accessibility. It is also equipped with a rumbleseat, floor-shifter and a four-spoke steering wheel which make this Packard an ideal candidate for a weekend drive. Being recognized by the Classic Car Club of America as a "Full Classic" makes it eligible for their established events. This Packard is elegant in many ways, but only the owner can experience them all.
