The 560SL was the final and most refined version of the R107 body style. It was made from 1986 to 1989 and was the most powerful and developed of the Mercedes-Benz R107 chassis, which began with the introduction of the 450SL in 1973. By 1986, the V-8 engine had been enlarged to 5.5-liters, developing 230-hp, guaranteeing a 0- to 60-mph time of 7.5 seconds, and a top speed of 130-mph.

The 560SL, dubbed the “German Corvette” by a journalist because of its two-seat interior and highway performance, thankfully did not suffer the quality issues of the latter in period. The 560 SL rides smoothly and quietly, cosseting the two occupants in amply proportioned leather bucket seats, and offers safe, predictable handling. 1989 was the final year for this body style and for 1990; the classic lines of the R107 had been replaced with boxy, modern styling.

This particular 560SL has traveled only 18,030 and has been collector owned and maintained since new. The vehicle is equipped with both tops, a Becker Grand Prix radio cassette player, and comes with all the original books and manuals. The Creme interior and Cabernet exterior are both in flawless condition and show little to no wear. The vehicle offered has been meticulously maintained and cared for from new. This 560SL is unquestionably one of the finest available and presents an excellent opportunity to buy an example of the final year for the highly desirable Mercedes-Benz R107 chassis.
