312-cid, 275-hp V-8 engine with dual four-barrel carburetors, three-speed Ford-O-Matic automatic transmission, independent front suspension with unequal length A-arms and coil springs, live rear axle with semi-elliptic leaf springs, and four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes with power assist. While the two-seat Thunderbird was born as Ford’s answer to the Corvette, the two cars were actually quite different. While Corvette was trying to be America’s sports car, Thunderbird chose to forge a new path as a personal luxury car. With more power and a more comfortable ride, the Thunderbird seemed more sophisticated.

The third and final year for the classic two-seat Thunderbird, many believe 1957 to be the best. Styling was freshened with an updated grille and front end, as well as a snappy new rear quarter treatment with sporty looking fins. The rear deck was restyled once more with the spare tire returning to the trunk.

This beautiful Thunderbird is one of approximately 1,300 E-Code Thunderbirds built in 1957. Finished in the very rare and desirable color combination of Bronze with a tan interior it is complete with both a tan convertible top and the removable porthole hardtop; it is understood to be one of just 17 delivered as such. Completing the package is a set of brand new correct wire wheels and period correct wide whitewall tires. As an E-Code high-performance Thunderbird, this particular example is an outstanding car finished in a highly dramatic and unique color combination and is worthy of close inspection.
