2.8-litre, 170-hp inline overhead cam six cylinder engine, automatic transmission, independent front and rear coil spring suspension, and power assist hydraulic disc brakes, Wheelbase: 94.5-inches

Mercedes-Benz introduced the W113 series in 1963 as a complete revision to their sports car extremes offered in the early 1960s 300SL and the touring 190SL. Now this little two-seater had appealing, yet decidedly new, rectangular lines and its headlights and turn signals were integrated into vertical assemblies. A new wider grille was set between the lights, sporting a large star medallion, and an automatic transmission became an option.

The original cars first were produced with the 2.3-liter engine then progressing to the 2.5 and then offering thee most powerful of all, the 2.8-liter, as displayed here.

The 280 SL was offered in America through 1971, when it was then replaced by a newer SL series that was more focused on size and luxury than youthful appeal. This last year “Pagoda,” as its often referred to, is finished in a lovely dark green exterior with a matching green interior. It retains both the removable hardtop as well as the canvas top stored underneath the rear decklid. This well-cared-for example comes equipped with all the luxuries one would hope for such as an automatic transmission, air-conditioning and Becker radio. It is complete with the proper spare along with its booklets and manuals. We understand that it is prepped to be a fit and fun daily driver and encourage close inspection.
