406-cid, 405-hp, V-8 engine, four-speed top-loader manual transmission, four-wheel heavy duty suspension, front disc and rear drum brakes. Wheelbase: 119-inches

The 406 engine appeared early in 1962, having evolved from the earlier 390 tri-power V-8. Developed purely for racing, the 406 Galaxie was only sold to the public to fulfill the Super Stock racing requirements. Upgrades distinguishing the 406 Galaxie from its rather mundane brethren included a special cam, valve gear, bearings, exhaust and ignition, the famous Tri-Power triple carburetor setup, the choice of numerous rear end ratios, and stiffer springs and shocks. Three-inch drums were fitted to bring this finless, cleanly styled Ford to a halt from a possible top speed of 140-mph.

This particular example was recently restored to original specifications and is ready for show or muscle car rallies. It is very nicely finished in dark blue with a blue interior. This 406 Galaxie 500 is a true sleeper and will be well-respected on either the streets or at home in a museum.
