281-cid, 320-hp OHC V-8 engine, five-speed manual transmission, modified MacPherson strut front suspension, live rear axle with four-link coil spring suspension and four-wheel power hydraulic disc brakes. Wheelbase: 101.3-inches.

From 1983 to 1999, Ford Motor Company was the official supplier of cars to the Bob Bondurant School of High Performance Driving. Chief among these was the top-line series of Mustangs. In 1999, this was the Mustang Cobra.

Founded in 1968 by former Formula One driver Bob Bondurant, the school operated at several race tracks before opening a purpose-built facility in Phoenix, Arizona, in 1990. The Bondurant School uses production performance cars, upgraded with safety and reliability equipment. Over the years, cars have been supplied by Nissan, Ford and, currently, General Motors.

This 1999 Mustang Cobra was an active course car at the Bondurant school until its retirement. The top Mustang model, it is equipped with all Cobra amenities, including power windows, Ford audio system with CD capability and air conditioning. Additional equipment added for the track includes an onboard fire suppression system, roll cage and window nets.

Striking in its orange-and-blue Bondurant livery, the car is in very good condition, particularly in view of its working life. Contours are all good, and the paint suffers only from a few chips on the hood. The leather interior has seen some use, especially the Recaro seat in the driver’s position. The engine compartment and undercarriage are both very clean. Although officially a senior citizen, it still has plenty of active life left.
