The top-of the line DeLuxe Microbus, "The Cadillac of Volkswagens,” as its nickname suggests, came with more elaborate trim and a list of amenities not available on other VWs. The 21-window variants of 1964-1967, particularly those with the massive factory sunroof, are the most rare and sought-after of the entire Microbus series.
The 1967 Volkswagen Type II DeLuxe 21-Window Full Sunroof Microbus presented here is an especially desirable example. Representing the last of the split-windshield series, the 1967 models possessed beautiful styling and benefited from the introduction of many long overdue features, the most notable being an upgraded 12-volt electrical system.
This splendid 21-Window with sunroof received a comprehensive restoration of high quality. The Volkswagen is powered by a 1,500-cc, 53-hp horizontally opposed four-cylinder engine. It features DeLuxe trim, walk-through front seating and the desirable safari windows. The windshield sections are top-hinged and fold out. The VW has an appealing color combination and is very nicely presented, as evidenced by its appearance at the LaJolla Concours.
