Beginning in 1981 Porsche began to offer the Flachbau, or ‘Flat Nose,’ option under their special order program. This unique package featured sloped front fenders, retractable headlamps, and air vents to ensure efficient air-cooling for the brakes and engine. The design drew from the front end of the highly successful Porsche 935 racing car.

While ordered initially under the special wishes program for a number of years, by 1987 Porsche recognized the profits available in the conversions; this led to the creation of option packages M505 (USA) and M506 (Rest of World). For 1987, only 144 examples received the ‘Flat Nose’ treatment that were delivered to the U.S. market.

This Porsche 911 is powered by a 3.3-liter, 282-hp turbocharged flat six-cylinder air-cooled engine, which is paired to a four-speed manual transmission. A stunning example of a factory M505 ‘Flat Nose,’ the car comes very well equipped with a sunroof and a limited-slip differential. The Porsche rides on a set of Fuchs wheels that bring an excellent contrast to the Grand Prix White paintwork. The interior is presented in Burgundy leather and features a multi-position driver’s seat, dash-mounted radio, and air conditioning.

The Porsche is an exceptional original example, having been collector-owned its entire life; the car has only 25,000 miles on it.
