Moto Guzzi, launched in 1921, would soon become known world-wide for its many racing victories and long line of street machines built for the long run.

Case in point the Astore seen here. While the name translates to Goshawk, a bird of prey, this 500-cc was designed for relaxed and comfortable touring known for its excellent roadholding qualities and “tireless” cruising speeds. Like all Guzzi big singles, they were low-revving, hugely torquey machines. The distinctive left side exposed flywheel arrangement allows the flywheel to have the correct mass while keeping the engine cases compact and light.

From the Sigal Collection, this complete road worthy example still carries its last Italian certification tag circa August 1978. Its easy handling and dependability helps ensure these machines ongoing popularity as one of the most desirable of "classic Italian middleweights." Ride it, restore it, show and go it.
