One of the most sought after machines from The Golden Age of Motorcycles, the line of BSA Gold Star singles, in production from 1938-1963, continued to hold their own on race tracks long afterwards and along the way garnered a passionate following both among competitors and collectors. During the 1950s they literally reigned supreme as both 350-cc and 500-cc models. Part of their near mythical status, beyond their striking appearance, was the fact that each issued from the factory with documented dyno results.

By 1950 the 500-cc Gold Star, its handling aided by the addition of a rear suspension plunger-type swingarm achieved domination of the Clubman TT races and street sales rocketed accordingly. This 1951 500-cc Goldstar, in a very nice state of restoration, and sourced from the Baker Collection, shows only seven miles on its odometer.
