For 1958, the final new Packard models were introduced in January and marketed as a mid-year lineup change. The Series 58L models featured updated body designs, heralded by a full-width grille and fashionable quad headlamps. At the rear, a pair of uniquely stacked tailfins incorporated boomerang-style taillight lenses with backup lights. From the lower tailfin, a dashing gold-anodized side molding swept dramatically to the front of the car. A set of 14-inch wheels and tires provided a low ride height, while a hood scoop made for a performance-oriented final touch.

The beautifully presented example offered here is one of just 1,200 sedans built during the final year of Packard automobile production. Its rakish bodylines are accented by a newer two-tone gray and white exterior finish, beautiful original brocade interior upholstery, original carpet and original, virtually irreplaceable exterior trim. The 289-cid, 225-hp V-8 is cradled within a clean, well-maintained engine bay and mated to a Flight-O-Matic automatic transmission. The interior features a padded dash, a very stylish steering wheel, distinctive instrumentation, radio, clock, whitewall tires and factory wheel covers. The Packard is in overall excellent condition.

To add to the allure of this final year Packard Sedan, it has a history that includes ownership by American film actors Elizabeth Montgomery and husband Robert Foxworth. They had a twenty-plus year relationship and were married at the time of Ms. Montgomery’s unfortunate passing in May 1995. This ‘Bewitching’ Packard has the original California license plate, full documentation that is included in the purchase and the registration in Mr. Foxworth’s name. There is also a signed Screen Actors Guild program with the signatures of both stars.

Mr. Foxworth has enjoyed a long stage, film and television career, and Ms. Montgomery is most remembered as lovable witch, Samantha Stephens, during the eight-year run of the popular ABC show, “Bewitched.” She starred with Dick York, (later) Dick Sargent and Agnes Moorehead in the hit situation comedy and would receive five Emmy nominations and four Golden Globe nominations for her work in the series. Bewitch yourself with this well-presented final year Packard with celebrity provenance.
