The 1929 L Series is widely regarded as the best of the pre-WWII era Hudsons. The dual cowl Phaeton, along with a few sporting and formal bodies were finished exclusively by Biddle and Smart Coach Builders Co. This regarded East Coast coach builder supplied Hudson with aluminum bodies, among few in the world capable of working with this material in quantity at the time.

The Model L dual cowl phaeton was a swift performer on the open road. Due to its relatively light weight, the 1929 Hudson could pass nearly all other cars on the road with the exception of the Duesenbergs. The exquisite coach built body, along with its thoroughbred performance make this dual cowl phaeton one of the most desirable Hudson’s available.

This sought-after machine is powered by the Hudson Super Six 288-cid, 92-hp inline engine that is mated to a floor-mounted three-speed manual transmission. The Model L is a big car, based on a 139-inch wheelbase.

This example is finished in two-tone blue paint and has tan Spanish-grain leather interior. The Hudson has a cabin heater and an elegant dashboard that has aluminum detailing and white-face instrumentation. The front windshield has wind-wings and both windscreens fold down. The mileage registered on the odometer is 25,748.

Additionally the car has many desirable features that include dual sidemounts with chrome tread-covers with mirrors, single Pilot Ray, cowl lights, dual spotlights, radiator grille stone guard, trunk with rack, Hudson running board step plates , wire wheels, wide whitewall tires and distinctive hood side-louvers.

These aspects are only surpassed by its rarity; this example is one of merely seven known to exist. This car is recognized by the Classic Car Club of America as a Full Classic.
