This is an additional offering from the estate of respected large truck collector Bill Kirby, who unfortunately passed away approximately one year ago. This large and impressive Packard grocer’s truck is an AACA Grand National Winner in 1992 and it still wears its restoration in a grand manner. The front end and fenders have black finish, with the undercarriage and wheels in red and the cab and rear stowage area are seen in a complementary dark green. There is tasteful pinstriping and accents to be found, and the truck has signage for Miller and Hartman Wholesale Grocers of Lancaster, Pennsylvania and Anheuser-Busch Beer. The interior of the wood cab is nicely finished in natural tones, as are the interior roof slats and stringers which are equally nice with great visual appeal. The open sides and rear opening all have roll-down curtains. The cab also has elliptically-shaped windows on both sides, adding a touch of elegance on this big Packard. There is a tilt-out windshield and external sunvisor. The Packard is powered by a big Packard four-cylinder engine that is matched to a manual transmission. The red wheels are also pinstriped and wrapped with Goodyear solid tires. Running boards, cowl-mounted lights for night driving and carriage-style cowllights are also on-board. The massive front end is topped with a moto-meter. This is a mechanically interesting and imposing machine that is sure to generate a great deal of interest and conversation.
