This car was purchased by H.L. Kokernot on April 29, 1940 in San Antonio, Texas; it is said to be known as the Kokernot Packard. The car was purchased from Mr. Kokernot’s estate by published author James Hollingsworth. He published two books on the 1940 Packard. He was said to be known in the Packard Automobile Club as the resident authority on 1940 Packards.

One-Sixty designated the horsepower output of the new engine powering all senior model Packard’s this year. This Packard is powered by a 356-cid straight eight-cylinder engine mated to a three-speed manual transmission. The exterior is finished in Blackhawk Gray and is adorned with bumper guards, wide whitewall tires with Packard-script wheel covers. The interior is tailored in gray with a radio, deluxe steering wheel, heater and lovely wood trim and dashboard.

During Mr. Hollingsworth’s ownership, the car entered the CCCA national show and received the Premier Division First Place Award, scoring 98.5 out of 100 possible points. It was also selected for the September 1994 edition of the Classic Car Magazine. An emblem verifying the award is attached to cowl on the passenger side of the car.

After Mr. Hollingsworth’s ownership, the car was placed in an auto museum owned by Mitch VanHorn. After several years of being displayed, the car was purchased by its current owner. When the current owner purchased it, the car was showing some wear from loving use, so he refurbished the car back to its original, beautiful condition.
