Although Pierce-Arrow was in good financial health at the onset of 1930; thanks to the merger with Studebaker, a new eight and record production, sales declined quickly. In response, the company tried to generate excitement with the radical new Silver Arrow of 1933, which was designed by Phil Wright at the direction of Roy Faulkner, Pierce-Arrow’s new sales manager. Introduced in 1933 at New York and Chicago, the Silver Arrow created a sensation and was the smash hit of the New York Automobile Show. The startlingly streamlined Silver Arrow was a precursor to the styling trends to come. Priced at $10,000 a copy, it found few takers and just five were built.

For 1934 a very similar car joined the regular product line in eight and V-12 forms, leading a dramatic, if short lived, turnaround and providing a glimpse of what might have been.

The production Silver Arrows were built on a 144-inch wheelbase chassis; this particular car is powered by Pierce-Arrow's own 462-cid twelve-cylinder engine that developed 175 horsepower. This Model 1250A, V-12 example has a striking two-tone paint design that heightens the exceptional attention that was focused on the cars aerodynamics. This Silver Arrow was restored to show-quality standards some years ago and was on display in a private museum until earlier this year. Dual sidemount spares with steel covers and pedestal-mounted mirrors, fender integrated headlights, “archer” hood ornament and a luxurious interior are all important features on this very uncommon CCCA Full Classic. This represents a truly rare opportunity to acquire an example of this rare, sophisticated and historically significant automobile.
