  • Equipped with a V-8 engine and a three-speed column mounted manual transmission
  • AM radio, rear fender skirts, and wide whitewall tires
  • Fewer than 1,000 examples produced this first year Monterey

The Mercury Monterey was a high-end two-door coupe first introduced by the Ford Motor Company in 1950 to combat the luxury hardtops introduced by their main competitor, Chevrolet, in 1949. A part of the Mercury Eight model line, the Monterey had either a canvas covered top or an optional vinyl covered top for an additional $11. Standard features on the Monterey included leather faced seats, wool carpets, a simulated leather headliner, two-tone dashboard, fender skirts, dual sideview mirrors, a special black painted steering wheel, full wheel covers and a gold winged hood ornament.

Equipped with a V-8 engine and a three-speed column mounted manual transmission with overdrive it also features a heater, AM radio, rear fender skirts, and wide whitewall tires. Finished in dark red with a multi-color vinyl and cloth bench seat and a like new black vinyl roof. Overall the paint is in nice condition with no major blemishes and the stainless trim is nice and free of scratches or dimples. The dash remains in nice condition as do the gauges and the engine bay is clean and original in appearance. With fewer than 1,000 examples produced this first year Monterey presents a rare opportunity to acquire one of the first luxury cars from the 1950s.
