The International Harvester A120 Metro Van had a production run that spanned 37 years from 1938-1975 and was originally designed by Raymond Loewy, best known for his work with Studebaker and the high-profile 1950s Coca-Cola bottle redesign of the original Root Glass Company shape.

Benefitting from a 2 ½ year professional frame-off restoration that was completed in 2007 this example has been well-maintained since and remains in exceptional condition. A multiple award winning example it was the recipient of a “Best of Show” award as well as “Best Interior,” “Best use of Plating,” and “A Century of Excellence Award” at the 100th Anniversary – 18th Annual International Harvester and Light Truck Nationals.

Finished in a period correct two-tone white over baby blue that is nicely complemented by a matching interior. Power comes by way of an inline six-cylinder engine that is mated to a three-speed manual transmission. The interior has been set-up to operate as an ice cream truck with a brand new Nelson Manufacturing freezer and air conditioner and it also comes equipped with base cabinets, a glass serving window, and awning. Chrome diamond-plate is prudently utilized and the majority of the trucks ceiling is skinned with stainless steel.

Often we see over restored Divco trucks; however this is a refreshing rendition of an exceptional Art Deco-themed ice cream truck from the 50s and without doubt would make an excellent and rare addition to any collection.
