The 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air convertibles are, without a doubt, one of the most iconic expression of 1950s American automotive culture. While their design is timeless, 1950s technology can be somewhat limiting when it comes to reliable and comfortable long distance driving.

This example of a well-restored, 1957 Bel Air convertible is a great blend of “old meets new.” Underneath the original 1957 sheetmetal is a completely modern power train consisting of a L98, tuned-port injection 350-cid Corvette V-8 engine that has not only been built to run, but is accented and detailed with custom billet accessories and a serpentine belt drive. The engine is coupled to a TH350 automatic transmission. To help steer the car, a contemporary Saginaw 605 power steering conversion has been adapted and power brakes help it in the stopping department. The wheels are a nod to tradition with period spinner hubcaps and new wide whitewall radial tires.

The exterior of the car is finished in period correct Onxy Black with a power black convertible top and the car retains its original chrome and stainless trim accents. For comfort and convenience, the period correct red and silver vinyl interior is fitted with power windows, power seats, and a Sony AM/FM/CD player thoughtfully hidden in the tissue dispenser. This is a great example of classic styling and modern reliability all in one package.
