165-hp, 303.7-cid OHV V-8 engine, four-speed Hydra-Matic transmission, coil spring independent front suspension, live rear axle with semi-elliptic leaf springs, and four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes. Wheelbase: 120-inches

Beginning in 1951, Oldsmobile moved the Deluxe 88 models into a new Super 88 series, leaving just a two- and four-door sedan in the basic 88 line. In 1952, a four-barrel carburetor boosted horsepower to 160. By the time this car was built in 1953, higher compression delivered 165-hp.

This 1953 Super 88 is a largely original car. It has been repainted and the bumpers have been rechromed, but the interior is all original and the 32,800 miles shown are believed to be correct. It has been cleaned and repainted underneath, and is tidy, if not exactingly detailed. Considerable care has been taken with the engine compartment; which is correctly appointed and exceedingly clean.

Presented in Polar White over Cove Green, the car has green and gray cloth upholstery, with matching green headliner and carpets. All contours and paint are very good, and the brightwork shows only modest age. It is equipped with radio, heater, clock and a tinted windshield. A brochure for the full 1953 Oldsmobile line is included.

All Oldsmobile 88s are remarkable; this one is Super. Its new owner is bound to agree.
