Built by Autobianchi from 1968, the 500 Giardiniera was based on Fiat’s legendary small city car. It had arguably the longest production run of any 500 model, ceasing production in 1977. Space was ergonomically designed, with the engine mounted beneath the rear boot floor in order to create a flat loading surface. The fuel tank was mounted under the bonnet, as was the spare wheel.

From 1968 to 1977, all Giardinieras were sold under the Autobianchi name, with the total number of cars built in that period around 327,000. Registered new on 19 February 1975 in Milan to Mr. Zoccol Vittorin, this 500 Giardiniera is one of few Autobianchi cars built that were badged as a Fiat (even though the Turin marque had stopped their own production of this model in 1968).

The car features a sliding canvas roof that stretches from the driver to behind the rear passenger bench and incorporates the same “suicide doors” from Fiat’s 500, with this being the only 500 model to use them into the 1970s. Finished in Beige with black vinyl seats, this Giardiniera is a vintage 500 that is as charming as it is practical.

On peut dire que c'est elle qui connut la production la plus longue de toutes les versions de la 500, puisque sa fabrication ne prit fin qu'en 1977. Son espace intérieur était ergonomiquement conçu : son moteur était implanté sous le plancher du coffre arrière, ce qui assurait une surface de chargement parfaitement plane. Son réservoir se logeait sous le capot, avec la roue de secours.

De 1968 à 1977, toutes les Giardiniera furent vendues sous la marque Autobianchi ; leur nombre total se monte à environ 327 000. Cette 500 Giardiniera, immatriculée neuve à Milan le 19 février 1975 au nom de M. Zoccol Vittorin, est l'une des rares construites par Autobianchi mais badgées Fiat, alors même que la marque turinoise avait cessé sa propre production de ce modèle en 1968.

Cette voiture est équipée d'un toit ouvrant en toile qui coulisse des places avant jusqu'aux places arrière, ainsi que des portes "suicide" de la Fiat 500, ce qui fait d'elle la seule variante de 500 à avoir de telles portes pendant les années 1970.
