Est. 3.5 hp, 499 cc V-twin engine.

NSU started motorcycle production in Neckarsulm in 1901, having come to the bike business by the way of knitting machines. Precision machine work in other fields led many manufacturers into the booming bike business. The first bikes used a Swiss-built Zedel single-cylinder motor attached to a bicycle frame, but within a couple of years NSU was making its own single-cylinder and V-twin engines.

This Fongri-built tricycle is powered by one of NSU’s V-twins, which would go on to power the company’s racers, with some success. Restored some years ago and resplendent in black with a pale green petrol tank, this unusual vintage tricycle is presented in very presentable overall condition. The paintwork presents well, and the brightwork has been re-plated in recent years. A wicker passenger seat is fitted to the front in between the two wheels, and a large, centrally mounted wooden toolbox is fitted to the rear mudguard. This is certainly an exciting and rare vintage machine.
