1969 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona Berlinetta 'Plexi'

Representing a paradigm shift in Ferrari’s design language, the 365 GTB/4 Berlinetta, later nicknamed the “Daytona”, was first introduced to the world at the 1968 Paris motor show.
An early European-specification example with Plexiglas headlight covers, this Daytona, chassis number 12905, was originally finished in Blu Dino (106-A-72) over a Nero (VM 8500) interior. Completed by the factory in September 1969, it was immediately shipped to Maranello Concessionaires in England. It is believed that when new, this car was likely used personally by Colonel Ronnie Hoare of Maranello Concessionaires before being sold new to its first private owner, a Mr Garrison residing in England. The Daytona passed through one more British owner and was later repainted grey with a black stripe.
By April 1990, the Daytona had returned to its native Italy and was registered in Modena on license plates MO 847036. The car remained in Italy, now refinished in red, until 2006, when it was acquired by its most recent owner in November of 2006 and had remained in his possession ever since.
Confirmed as a matching-numbers example, this would be a wonderful Daytona to drive and enjoy as an example of one of Ferrari’s most celebrated road cars. Furthermore, it is an ideal candidate for a restoration back to its original and attractive Blu Dino paintwork. Chassis number 12905 is indeed a highlight of the Duemila Ruote collection and would continue to hold pride of place at any Ferrari gathering.
Please note this lot is currently under an order of seizure, which will be removed following the sale. Upon receipt of payment from the buyer, RM Sotheby’s will liaise with the appointed administrator for release of the seizure, which is expected to take approximately 10 days. During this time, lots will remain onsite at the Fiera Milano and collection can be arranged after confirmation from RM that the seizure order has been lifted.
For lots with a current Italian libretto, please be aware that the PRA must remove the seizure order from its records before re-registration can take place in any country. This process is expected to take 6-8 weeks, during which lots may be transported to an EU destination but may not be exported.
