Following in the footsteps of the lauded 458 Speciale, Ferrari introduced the 488 Pista at the Geneva Motor Show in March of 2018 to great fanfare. The 488 GTBs turbocharged 3.9-litre V-8 engine was lauded by industry insiders but with the Pista, Ferrari’s engineers sought to go one step further. The engine was upgraded with new camshafts, strengthened pistons, a larger intercooler, titanium connecting rods, and Inconel exhaust manifolds from the 488 Challenge. All this helped to raise power output to 710 bhp at 8,000 rpm. Further increasing performance, Ferrari also managed to decrease gearshift times by 30 milliseconds (when in race mode).

Stylistically, the 488 Pista boasts radically redesigned bodywork in an effort to increase downforce over the nose and optimize clean airflow over the rear spoiler. Ferrari also made prolific use of carbon fibre and Alcantara throughout the car in an effort to trim any excess weight. Overall, the 488 Pista weighs some 90 kg less than the 488 GTB.

This particular 488 Pista was built for the 2018 model year and delivered new in its native Italy to its first and only owner in August 2019. Finished in Blu Tour de France 70 with a Titanium Grey and Black racing stripe (an extra campionario option) and a Nera Alcantara interior, it is fitted with a number of desirable options including the front suspension lifter, brake calipers in Giallo, the “High Emotion, Low Emissions” system, Scuderia shields, satellite navigation with Bluetooth, anti-theft system, rev counter in Giallo, and interior details in Blu Sterling. Carbon fibre options include the front central spoiler, side air splitter, rear diffuser, engine cover, rear molding door sills, upper transmission tunnel, rear grille, and large-size carbon fibre racing seats.

Today, the car presents in excellent condition throughout, having been driven just under 7,300 km from new. Importantly, the car’s warranty will remain in place until August 2026, ensuring years of worry-free motoring ahead. A brilliant driver’s car in all regards, the 488 Pista proved to be a worthy successor to the 458 Speciale and will surely be highly sought after for years to come. Tastefully specified with numerous optional extras, this example is ready to drive and enjoy.
