The 2016 Ferrari F12tdf was an homage to successes of the Ferrari 250 GT driven in the famed Tour de France road race between 1956 and 1964 and subsequently earning the moniker “TdF”. A modern racing car for the road in every respect, the F12tdf was a radical upgrade to the standard F12 Berlinetta in terms power, weight, and aerodynamic grip.

Under the bonnet, a gargantuan 770 horsepower at 8,900 rpm was unleashed from the 6.3-litre V-12 through the introduction of mechanical tappets and variable geometry intake trumpets, usually reserved of motorsport powertrains. Over 100 kg of weight savings was also achieved, via the employment of carbon fibre and fastidious use of lightweight materials for every element of the car. This included the narrow section five-spoke wheels to the single piece carbon door cards; even the passenger glovebox was considered parasitic to performance and therefore removed.

The bodywork too was overhauled and featured state of the art active aerodynamics that helped to generate an 80 percent increase in downforce at 200 km/h, as well as unique design elements that paid tribute to the great Ferraris of the past (the most obvious being the 250 GTO-inspired slots over the rear haunches). The chassis, already considered to be excellent by road-car standards, was improved with the introduction of rear wheel steering, or ‘Virtual Short Wheelbase’ system in Maranello parlance, to complement the dramatically widened front track. The results spoke for themselves; only the hypercar LaFerrari has ever lapped Fiorano faster and even with its near 1,000-bhp, mid-engined hybrid powertrain. The difference between the two is less than one second.

This F12tdf is a two-owner example. It was originally delivered in 2016 and has covered just 6,000 km from new. It benefits from a particularly elegant specification of Argento Nürburgring over Grigio Alcantara with navy accents, as well as carbon fibre trims, a yellow tachometer, and wheels finished in Nero. It presents in immaculate condition commensurate with its age, mileage, and pedigree.

Naturally aspirated, low production number, V-12 front-engined Ferraris have always been sought after and the F12tdf is one of the last of a rare breed. This example would be well received in any collection.

La Ferrari F12tdf del 2016 è stata un omaggio ai successi delle Ferrari 250 GT utilizzate nella famosa gara “Tour de France” tra il 1956 e il 1964 e che, di conseguenza, ha ricevuto il soprannome "TdF". Sotto molti punti di vista, la F12tdf è una moderna auto da corsa omologata per uso stradale. È nata come evoluzione estrema della F12 Berlinetta standard, in termini di potenza, peso e deportanza aerodinamica.

Sotto il cofano, un poderoso V-12 di 6,3 litri, capace di 770 cavalli a 8.900 giri / min. grazie all’utilizzo di punterie meccaniche e trombette di aspirazione ad altezza variabile, soluzioni solitamente riservate ai motori da corsa. A questo, inoltre, si sono aggiunti gli oltre 100 chilogrammi di risparmio di peso, grazie all'impiego di fibra di carbonio e al maniacale utilizzo di materiali leggeri per ogni elemento della vettura. Tra queste parti, anche i cerchi a cinque razze a sezione ristretta ed i pannelli porte interni realizzati in un solo pezzo di fibra carbonio; rimosso anche il vano portaoggetti del passeggero, il cui peso era considerato superfluo, e penalizzante per le prestazioni.

Rivista anche la carrozzeria, dotata di un'aerodinamica attiva all'avanguardia che ha contribuito in modo importante a generare un aumento dell'80% del carico aerodinamico a 200 km/h. A questo si sono aggiunti elementi di design unici, che hanno reso omaggio alle grandi Ferrari del passato (tra cui quelli più ovvi sono le uscite d’aria posteriori riprese dalla 250 GTO). Il telaio, già considerato eccellente per gli standard delle vetture stradali, è stato migliorato con l'introduzione della ruota posteriore sterzante, o, per dirla come gli uomini di Maranello, il sistema "Virtual Short Wheelbase", ed alla carreggiata anteriore decisamente ampliata. I risultati parlano da soli: ad oggi, sulla pista di Fiorano, la sola hypercar LaFerrari è riuscita a girare più veloce e, malgrado l’aiuto del suo propulsore ibrido da quasi 1000 CV, e disposizione del motore posteriore centrale, la differenza tra le due vetture è inferiore al secondo.

Questa F12tdf è un esemplare che ha avuto due proprietari fino ad oggi, e, dopo essere stata originariamente consegnata nel 2016, ha percorso solo 6.000 km da nuova. È resa ancora più splendida da un’elegante livrea Argento Nürburgring su interni in Grigio Alcantara con inserti Blu Navy, abbinate alle finiture in fibra di carbonio, il tachimetro giallo e le ruote rifinite in Nero. Si presenta in condizioni immacolate, adeguate alla sua giovane età, al basso chilometraggio ed alle sue nobili origini.

Le vetture Ferrari dotate di motore V-12 aspirato, con una produzione numericamente limitata, sono sempre state ricercate e, la F12tdf, è una delle ultime discendenti di una specie ormai rara. Questo esemplare sarebbe in grado di valorizzare qualsiasi collezione.
