From the beginning, Alec Issigonis’s Mini revolutionised automotive design, and despite its “economy” market positioning, the Mini was highly fashionable and epitomised the youthful, avant-garde spirit of mid-1960s London. Demand was strong, and it even attracted the attention of bespoke coach builder Harold Radford & Co. of South Kensington in London. Radford Minis were fitted with many luxurious “non-standard” features, and they were owned by such stars of the 1960s as John Lennon, Peter Sellers and American movie and motorsports icon Steve McQueen.

This left-hand drive Mini Traveller Estate by Radford is very handsomely presented and equipped with a full Connolly leather interior, electric window lifts, a walnut dash and a Webasto sun roof, as well as additional instrumentation, Minilite wheels, a wood-rimmed steering wheel and extra insulation. An upgraded 1,275 cc, dual carburettor engine, servo-assisted 7″ Lockheed front disc brakes, sports exhaust and gas-adjustable shocks enhance drivability. Formerly part of the personal collection of Sir Lindsay Owen-Jones, this Radford Mini is accompanied by a historical file.
