Select By Jules Racine & Co.
Ca. 1960s

This very rare watch features mechanical manual wind, and Swiss jeweled movement. This stopwatch was designed, made, and calibrated to be specifically used for racing on The Indianapolis Motor Speedway’s 2.5 mile track. The layout and markings on the dial allows the user to determine lap times and speed at a glance. These stopwatches were generally given as gifts to the crew chiefs of teams using Champion spark plugs. They were given out by the Champion representatives who were assigned to the Speedway during the month of May. They were the state of the art hand held timing devices. This one appears to have not had much or any use with just a few light surface scratches on the backside of the case (which might polish out). The case measures 51 mm. It comes with its original box, as well as a vintage Indy 500 souvenir ‘floaty’ pen, ca. 1960s, with acrylic pen display stand. Jules Racine & Co. has a history dating back to the 1800s.
