In the early 1970s, Ferrari developed a new platform to succeed the highly popular 365 GTB/4 Daytona. The 365 GT4 BB, revealed at the 1971 Turin Motor Show, brought with it Ferrari’s first mid-mounted 12-cylinder engine—nicknamed the “Boxer”, due to its 4.4-litre flat-12 configuration—and the Berlinetta Boxer model family came into being. Ferrari would later evolve the platform to make way for the 512 BB, then the Testarossa. The 365 GT4 BB itself was produced from 1973 to 1976, with 387 made. As a result of its limited production run, the car is especially coveted by Ferrari collectors and enthusiasts.

This example, chassis number 18025, was completed in June 1974. The car left the Maranello factory as the 124th 365 GT4 BB made, complete with an Argento Metallizzato exterior colour over a Pelle Nera interior. Sold new through Renato Nocentini’s Garage La Rotonda in Prato (Florence), it was subsequently registered in Florence, Italy, under the registration “FI 743497”. The Ferrari enjoyed a succession of owners residing in Italy from its date of construction up to 2011, when it was bought by its next owner in Germany. It entered the collection of Mr. Guikas in January 2019.

The 365 GT4 BB was Ferrari Classiche certified in December 2006, verifying that this model features a matching-numbers engine and a correct-type gearbox. From 2007 to 2009 this Boxer was entrusted to Ferrari Classiche in Maranello for a full mechanical restoration. Subsequently, following its sale to Germany, 18025 was sent back to Maranello for a careful repaint by Carrozzeria Zanasi in its original Argento Metallizzato and a retrim in beige leather by noted firm Luppi S.r.l. Once in Germany 18025 was further treated to a full engine overhaul by Kessel Racing / Racing Cars SA, and later a suspension overhaul by Tommaso Gelmini’s GPS Classic S.r.l. Also included with the car are period printed manuals from Ferrari that are specific to the 365 GT4 BB, as well as cancelled German Fahrzeugbrief documentation.

Now presented in restored condition with well researched provenance and Ferrari Classiche Red Book, this beautiful example of the rare 365 Boxer is ready to be enjoyed by its next caretaker as a worthy addition to any Ferrari collection.

La 365 GT4 BB, présentée au Salon de Turin 1971, étrennait le premier 12-cylindres central de Ferrari, un 4,4 litres surnommé Boxer du fait de son architecture à plat. C'est ainsi que la famille des Berlinetta Boxer vit le jour. Par la suite, Ferrari fit évoluer cette plateforme pour donner naissance à la 512 BB puis à la Testarossa. La 365 GT4 BB fut produite de 1973 à 1976, à un total de 387 exemplaires. Ce faible nombre fait d'elle un modèle particulièrement recherché des collectionneurs et amateurs de Ferrari.

L'exemplaire proposé, le châssis numéro 18025, fut construit en juin 1974. C'était la 124ème 365 GT4 BB à sortir de l'usine de Maranello ; elle était gris métallisé (Argento Metallizzato), avec un intérieur en cuir noir (Pelle Nera). Elle fut vendue neuve par les soins du Garage La Rotonda de Renato Nocentini, situé à Prato, près de Florence, et fut immatriculée à Florence sous le numéro FI 743497. Puis elle connut une succession de propriétaires habitant l'Italie, avant d'être rachetée en 2011 par quelqu'un qui résidait en Allemagne. Elle entra dans la collection de M. Guikas en janvier 2019.

Cette 365 GT4 BB reçut en décembre 2006 la certification Ferrari Classiche, qui établit que son numéro moteur était concordant et que sa boîte de vitesses était de la bonne définition. Puis elle fut confiée de 2007 à 2009 à Ferrari Classiche, à Maranello, pour une restauration mécanique complète. Par la suite, après son arrivée en Allemagne, elle retourna à Maranello pour se faire soigneusement repeindre par la Carrozzeria Zanasi dans son Argento Metallizzato d'origine, avant de se faire regarnir en cuir beige par Luppi S.r.l., l'entreprise bien connue. Pendant sa période allemande, notre 18025 poursuivit avec une remise en état complète de son moteur effectuée par Kessel Racing / Racing Cars SA et, plus tard, avec une révision de sa suspension, confiée à GPS Classic S.r.l., l'entreprise de Tommaso Gelmini. La voiture est proposée avec les brochures Ferrari d'époque spécifiques à la 365 GT4 BB, ainsi qu'avec le dossier de sa carte grise allemande annulée.

Désormais restauré, avec des origines bien documentées et son Red Book Ferrari Classiche, ce magnifique exemplaire des rares 365 Boxer, qui constitue un ajout de valeur à toute collection de Ferrari, est prêt à ravir son prochain gardien.
