Except for the supercars, the 246 Dinos have proved to be the absolute, most popular contemporary Ferrari. Their combination of incredibly sexy curves, sweet sounding, race-bred V-6 and nimble mid-engine chassis makes them a “must have” car for both first time and veteran Ferrari owners.

In late 2010 the vendor began an extensive restoration of 246GTS 08070. When the red paint was stripped remnants of Viola paint were found. An inquiry to Ferrari confirmed the original color was indeed Viola Metallizzato, a very rare color that is nearly identical to the purple ink Enzo Ferrari used for all his signatures. Factory records indicate only 31 Dinos were finished in the distinctive hue. Mario Andretti was the original owner of a Viola Dino and George Harrison can be seen standing next to his Viola Dino in a picture in a CD liner.

08070 has been extensively refurbished. It features flawless fresh paint with all the details; like new chrome, window gaskets, side window wiper strips as well as all new compartment rubber seals. The interior was fully restored with new leather, new door panels, carpet, console/inner sill trim, and dash mousehair. The trunk carpet was replaced along with the plastic liners in both the front and rear compartments.

Prior to the cosmetic restoration, well-documented mechanical reconditioning included thorough engine inspection and reseal, gearbox synchros, all four corner suspension rebuild, brake system overhaul, and new, correct Ansa exhaust. The car runs and drives exceptionally well, performing correctly in all areas...... and is nothing if not big fun.

With Dino prices at record levels why have – another red Dino, when you can have a Dino everybody remembers. This Dino is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to any collection. Don’t miss it, you will be hard pressed to find another.
